I find her to be interesting and informative. She wrote a book about start-up charter schools in California that had a very high percentage of Latino/Latina students who had many problems (economic, family etc.) outside of the school environment.

I also like the following blogs education blogs-

kitchentablemath.blogspot.com
blogs.eduweek.org/edweek/cirricullum
http://eduwonk.com/

My experience is that there are many great teacher blogs, from which you can pick and choose what works best for you in the classroom. Having experience in higher level state politics (where classrooms are discussed, but rarely visited), it is nice to read and learn from others in the profession.Zach Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818501651830898707noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3255555630439890607.post-86333511404078420892009-09-20T18:12:00.000-07:002009-09-20T18:20:23.677-07:00Educational Philosophy. As a Math Teacher for lower-ability students, I attempt to make Math as relative to their lives as possible. I have found that business, consumerism, dance and sports work well. I was even able to use the electoral college to teach students to convert fractions to decimals and back.

As a newer teacher I feel sometimes exasperated in a never ending battle against authority I find in my classes. In someways I was able to overcome it be relating to students about their lives outside of the Math class, but in the end it does impede quite students who do not like to ask questions with learning the math they are struggling.

I value education and try to do what I can to make the students get some of that from my class.Zach Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818501651830898707noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3255555630439890607.post-77542475784558471132009-09-12T11:06:00.000-07:002009-09-12T11:13:27.491-07:00Why are we here on a SaturdayHello, this is is my first post.Zach Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818501651830898707noreply@blogger.com3
